Hello Scary Guy,

I’m Tony the bald headed mentor you met yesterday at our school, Cardinal Heenan, Liverpool. I should like to thank you for the effort you made yesterday, particularly, with my year 11 pupils with whom you spoke privately in our school chapel.

This group was chosen for an audience with you as a result of their overall attitude toward themselves, other pupils and teachers within school. I have witnessed their prejudice and I am sorry to say, bigotry in my time in our school. They are all, potential, high academic achievers but attitudes to life in general could diminish them and my hope for them to become valued members of their communities has looked, at times, forlorn.

I have challenged them on many occasions as to their perceptions of the world and to the consequences of closing their minds to the possibilities of choice. It was remarkable yesterday to witness them embrace you and the simple message you bring because, as a result, they actually thanked me for the opportunity to have met with you.

A little while later, while you were in our hall with the second massed group, the young men sought me out and thanked me again telling me that to have met with you has helped them fully understand the message I have been giving them since their arrival in our school. My simple message is about choice and being the best person their environment allows and understanding compromise as opposed to "war".

From a personal viewpoint your quest is more than admirable and I am given heart that there are people out there who will carry the simple message of love and truth that much further. To see the effect you had on our boys has made my work worthwhile and given me hope for our future.
